Our special services

The aged care sector is a minefield, our financial modelling provides family’s with a ‘roadmap’ to safely navigate the aged care system.

Our Advice Can Include

• Modelling and analysis of a number of available financial options to enter an age care facility (i.e. retaining, selling or renting the family home)
• Cash flow analysis and funding solutions
• Accommodation bond funding strategies (i.e. lump sum RAD, interest only DAP, reverse mortgage or a combination)
• Assessing the impact on age pension benefits
• Minimising the aged care means testes fees (if possible)
• Investment management solutions

Life has a habit of serving up unexpected challenges. The need of full time aged care for a family member and their urgent entry into a nursing home, often seems to come out of nowhere and can quickly throw the best laid plans of the family into disarray. The good news is that aged care financial planning is a proven method to help new Sydney aged care residents and their families save money, and avoid costly mistakes. Aged care financial planners help to provide peace of mind and guidance through the admission process, which can include arranging the finances in such a way that better quality aged care homes for your loved one become a real option. Aged care assistance can help you to maximise pension benefits and income, and to minimise the costs of the aged care homes.

Sydney Aged Care Financial Advisers (SACFA) has provided information and aged care financial advice to hundreds of Sydney residents. We offer transparent services and a competitive fee structure to reduce your financial burden. We specialise in modelling various scenario’s to fund the aged care accommodation bond and optimising your cash-flow.

The first consultation with us is obligation FREE. If you can benefit from our advice we will then quote for a financial plan to suit your requirement, and the ‘fixed price’ fee will then charged upon delivery of the financial plan.

In addition, we note many people harbour very tender sentiments regarding their home and do not wish to sell it to pay the aged care bond. If you happen to belong to this category, then SACFA may also help you in this regard with a well-planned strategy that allows you to fund the accommodation bond / Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD) but keep your home.

All residential age care facilities charge their residents an accommodation bond. The average accommodation bond in Sydney range from $350,000 for a shared room to $500,000 – $600,000 for a single room. Some age care facilities charge as much as $900,000 – $1,000,000.

In 2014 the accommodation bond name was changed to Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD). Residents are not required to pay the lump sum Refundable Accommodation Deposit if they cannot raise the capital. Instead they can owe the facility the money and pay interest on the outstanding RAD amount. This interest charge is called a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP).
